The White House is one step closer to having the authority to flip the Internet "kill switch" in case of emergency.

"The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs approved a cybersecurity bill called PCNAA, or Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act on Friday. 
The bill would give the president the power to call it lights out for the Internet if there is "a cyber attack capable of causing massive damage or loss of life..."
